Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year in Islamic culture. This year it will be celebrated from May 5th to June 4th. Millions of Muslims around the world will gather with family and friends to pray, fast from dawn to dusk, and break-the-fast with meals and feasts, called Iftars. Our community will join others across the United States to celebrate in solidarity with Muslim friends and neighbors and focus on peace, justice and healing in the Middle East and here, in our communities.
The Muslim Solidarity Group of Sanctuary Santa Cruz is presenting our 2nd Annual Santa Cruz Community Ramadan on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Pacific Cultural Center. The evening will include a program focused on Ramadan teachings, a traditional Iftar dinner, and dialogue from 6:45-9 PM. It is important to pre-register, so that we can plan the dinner accurately. There is no charge and we respectfully request donations to support our Community Ramadan evening as a gift to our Muslim community.

The Muslim Solidarity Group (MSG), founded in 2016 as an affiliate of Sanctuary Santa Cruz, is a diverse group whose mission is to support Muslims and non-Muslim Arabs from around the world in the struggle to be understood and honored. It is our desire to plant and nourish seeds of peace, understanding, and reconciliation. In solidarity with local and Bay Area Muslim groups, MSG studies history and issues, hears and shares stories, and addresses misconceptions by providing information and resources. We create and facilitate cultural/educational events and activities that build bridges and inspire social action.
